Mid-Level Planning Associate

About the Position:

Skeo Solutions is an employee focused consulting firm providing innovative, collaborative, and multidisciplinary solutions to complex and pressing issues in environmental stewardship, social equity and economic opportunity.

We are seeking a motivated, flexible and team-oriented Mid-Level Planning Associate to join the Skeo team in the San Francisco Bay Area or our headquarters office in Charlottesville, VA. A primary responsibility will be leading and supporting community planning projects in a team setting. Focus areas include environmental justice, watershed planning, green infrastructure and brownfield reuse. Responsibilities will include project management, community engagement, land use planning, map development, conceptual site design, coordinating with government agencies and community organizations, and developing final documents. Ideal candidates will have exceptional communications skills, experience organizing and managing multi-faceted projects, interest in community engagement, and willingness to travel an average of 3-5 days per month at various locations throughout the U.S. The selected candidate will also provide support to a range of company projects that may include guidance and document development, GIS analysis and map development, graphic design, and community engagement, depending upon skill set.

This is a fulltime position (approximately 40 hours/week) eligible for full benefits (including health, dental and life insurance, paid time off, and 401k participation with an employer match). Depending on the location of the selected applicant, this will be a telework position in the San Francisco Bay Area or located at the headquarters office in Charlottesville, VA. Throughout the term of employment, both employee and employer will retain the right to terminate employment in accordance with state law. 

Required Qualifications

  •    Master’s degree in planning, landscape architecture or related field.
  •    At least three years of experience organizing or managing multi-faceted projects.
  •    Strong writing and communication skills.
  •    Proficient with Arc GIS and InDesign programs.
  •    Community engagement or facilitation experience.
  •    Located in the San Francisco Bay Area or near Charlottesville, VA.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  •    Graphic design skills.
  •    Strong project management skills.
  •    Previous experience working with government agencies or community organizations.
  •    Previous experience working with ethnically diverse and/or economically disadvantaged communities.
  •    Understanding of environmental justice and equity principles.
  •    Experience in watershed planning, green infrastructure, or brownfield reuse.
  •    Willingness to travel for an average of 3-5 days per month throughout the United States.

Mid-Level Technical Associate

About the Position:

Skeo Solutions is an employee focused consulting firm providing innovative, collaborative, and multidisciplinary solutions to complex and pressing issues in environmental stewardship, social equity and economic opportunity.

We are seeking a team and detail-oriented Mid-Level Technical Associate to join the Skeo on an hourly, part-time basis. Location is flexible, but reliable internet connection is a must. This position will entail providing technical research, writing, and analysis as it relates to health and environmental impacts associated with hazardous waste to inform the development of Five Year Reviews for the Environmental Protection Agency. Prospective hires must be willing to travel an average of 2-4 days per month at various locations throughout the U.S.

This is a part-time position. Applicants should expect to work approximately 20 hours a week on average over the course of a month. Throughout the term of employment, both employee and employer will retain the right to terminate employment in accordance with state law. 

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in environmental science, engineering or other applicable field.
  • At least three years of experience performing research and analysis of technical information related to the environmental field.
  • Strong writing and communication skills with an ability to communicate technical information clearly to a lay audience.
  • Willingness to travel 2-4 days a month.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in hydrology, hydrogeology, geology or other areas that facilitate the understanding of contaminant transport in the environment.
  • Expertise in human or environmental risk assessment.
  • Experience supporting Five Year Reviews.
  • Experience with Superfund, RCRA or other state or federal cleanup programs.
  • Statistical analysis.
  • ArcGIS or other mapping skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
